Amelia

Current Status: in Foster, but looking for a permanent home. Amelia is a good horse.  She is a bright joyful spirit with a zest for life and living. She enjoys the company of humans and other horses - barn and buddy sourness can be a problem. Overall she is easy to handle and care for - excellent for the farrier, easy to worm, easy to catch-comes when called, trailers well, loves grooming and being fed.  She has arthritis and her eyesight is impaired especially at night and in the shadows. She is up to date on all shots. The vet suggested she wear a mask most of the time. As long as she has company Amelia is happy in the pasture or her stall. Due to her pink skin daytime turnout puts her at risk of burning. However any night turnout must allow for her impaired eyesight.. She will now stand still for mounting and dismounting. she has "allot of whoa".  She could learn to enjoy interacting with a rider with time.  Due to her eyesight she needs to be able to TRUST her new owner.  She is not very happy about girthing.

Small, stronger, sturdy, built for trail ridding, will stand for his hoofs about 15 min. then wants to be left alone. Knows how to be lunged and how to get out of it too. He's a lover when there's food around and a loner when it's gone. Likes brushing. Has beautifully mane and tail, is an easy keeper. and prefers being with other horses again, when there's food around. Must have a good fence cause he will test it. Doesn't mind being walked on lead rope but can spook easily. I've been working with plastic bag noises, car and tractor sounds, dogs around his legs, even a cat. I have seen improvement but he needs every day attention. He needs a lot of hands on training every day, well experienced rider to start and a permanent home where he won't be sent away again. In time I know this will be a good horse with middle aged children, the seed is there just needs to grow.
