North Carolina Central Coast Region

From Dare County to Greene County to Onslow County to Pamlico County

We are part of the non-profit, tax deductable USERL organization.  We can use equine feed (Triple Crown senior, Purina senior, Nutrena senior, Southern Senior or feed with 12% protein/12% fat), shredded beet pulp, hay extender, hay and mineral/salt blocks. We can use different types of wormers (i.e. Strongid C, Ivermecten base,  praziqantel base).  For other need items see our wish list.  Please help wherever you can.  Please contact the webmaster if you would like to donate any of these items for the horses in need.  webmaster email:

At this time we have 18 horses in our care.  7 of them are in rehab with a body scale of 1 to 3.  We have fosters and volunteers taking of them round the clock.  We need your support to help them.  There are 10 horses looking for a permanent home for someone to love them.  Could it be you?

Pitt Co. 4H donated Halters, buckets and wormers.  Thank you very much.

The Sun Journal's
"Feed our furry friends campaign" was a great success.  Thank you Sun Journal for adding us to your list of needy furry friends. We were given many halters and lead ropes from Partrade Trading Co, LLC in Kinston, NC. They are a wholesaler for many products relating to horses.  We can not thank them and Suzanne Harrel (Vice President) enough for their donation.  Take a look at their website www.partrade.net

Also we had a wonderful donation from Cindy Lohr.  The donation was in the name of Equine Express and Vivian, John and Yoni. They were there to help her with her horse in a time of need. Thanks you very much.

We were given also two bag of grain, fly masks, feed scoops, and training halters with leads. Some of these items will help our horses as the fly season starts and with training, so the horses can be adopted out.

Thanks you everyone for given to USERL horses.

The Yard Sale on April 19th was a great success.  Thanks to everyone.   We earned over $500.00 to help pay off vet bills for our horses. We thank Selah Stables for the mini cart rides and Greenville Tractor Supply for the tent and the round pen for two of our rescue horses (JC and Dodge).  They were great ambassadors for the rescue league.

Pamilco County Saddle Club donated $200 dollars worth of wormers for our fosters.  We appreciate their generosity.

The State had donated vaccines for our foster horses.

Edna McClung has donated a handmade queen size quilt (she made it)  and Nancy Holzworth donated a throw blanket with a horse head (4x5 ft) to be raffled.  The quilt will be first prize and the throw blanket is second prize. Chances will be a $1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5. The quilt and throw blanket will be displayed at the yard sale and the Benefit Horse Show. The drawing will be held at the July meeting. Just look at these!!!  Wouldn't you like to have one of these in your home?  To buy tickets: go to the yard sale(April 19) or Fun Horse Show(May 24) or contact Ruby Scheer (Region Coordinater) by email.

Horse for the Month

ECHO: Was adopted on July 11, 2008

Current Status: in Foster, but in looking for a permanent home.  I am a wonderful boy.  I love to be loved.  I have been green broke. That means that you can set on me and I go forward but I do not understand moving off legs or reining. I have not done any bucking.  I only walk at this time.  I am gaited so I need to learn my regular walk first then starting learning my flat foot walk and on to further training. I enjoy having company in my pasture.  I am a very easy going guy. I need someone to bring me along as a gaited horse.
